So Jeff finally made himself a wine review blog, and I think that means that I should start one up as well. Considering we drink together a lot, you might see two reviews of the same stuff now, with a different bend on things.
My interest in wine truly began when Paul gave me a bottle of Penfolds Bin 389 for my birthday a long time ago, and I sat down one night and consumed it while watching TV (liver says ouch). Compared to anything that I had tasted previously, it was fantastic, and lack of hangover the next day convinced me that I should definitely driunk more wine.
Starting with the Penfolds range I started experimenting (fancy word for drinking more often) and eventually I met Jeff and Raphael (who were neighbours at the time) and I started tasting what they had on offer too. With three other wine nuts egging me on (my wife and my pair of neighbours) I developed the passion into what it is today.
My favorite wine is Shiraz, especially from the Barossa region, but I also love many other red wines as well and I am starting to develop more of a taste for the local stuff (Washington State). I appreciate a good blend, but Merlot has hurt me so often that I steer clear unless I get a very good recommendation. I don’t ever buy white wine, because none of it ever comes close to red in my opinion. Yes, I eat fish and chicken with red wine and I love it.
